Charge extra for hosting – Kineo Pacific told me 6K to host, Kineo Group told me 12K to 18K to host including support. Relies too much on Moodle architecture as in 80%. Are hosting costs universal? Continued increase in the number of vendors, regardless of size or target customer size (i.e I am projecting that by the end of 2012, you will see HRIS features come into play, but more so as an additional cost module. Systems that are only available as hosted on your own servers are starting to significantly decline.

All they care about is whether the system is in “the cloud” SaaS or “in the cloud” to the consumer means that is it hosted on your servers or wherever you host your LMS and they can access it via the internet regardless of where they are located as long as they have an internet connection. Web sites yes.

I’m not talking about freebies such as Moodle or Sakai, but actually commercial systems. Low cost systems are typically SaaS based (then again, the LMS industry as a whole is more SaaS based than hosted on your servers). Major downer: available only as hosted on your own servers. Available as hosted or on your own servers.
