HTML5 – mobile learning. Were mobile was the buzzword at DevLearn, it was replaced by HTML5 at LSCON. There were a lot of sessions about this topic, or mobile publications, because we all want to include flash like elements in our IOS publications. Feature sets – they have to be more than PPT to Flash or add an audio clip and video clip to the course. Mobile Learning/HTML5 output – doesn’t hurt and has to be considered. It pitches that it is a m-learning product because it supports HTML5. It doesn’t output to HTML5, though. #8

But most learning platforms these days don’t support them anymore, hence SCORM is important. The initial version of SCORM was developed and released in 2000 by the Department of Defense-sponsored Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Initiative. You can also embed the content on any website using HTML5 or Flash.

Innovation abounded and the push to focus on the “PPT to Flash&# angle continued to shine. ADL SCORM 2004 CERTIFIED. You get the Flash code – YES – you get the code, which you can do whatever you want with it. Supports HD h.264 264 codec, which the iPad supports, and a few browsers for HTML5.

With a wider variety of ways we could deliver learning experiences, combined with the desire to support and track performance, things had to change. To that end came the development of HTML5 and responsive web content that adjusts to the screen size. What about Flash? It could be performance support or a cheat sheet.

SCORM was first developed by the Advanced Distributed Learning Initiative – ADL, a research group sponsored by the US Department of Defense. Alternatively, SCORM authoring tools can export a course as an HTML5 folder to upload into your LMS. LMSs that support SCORM are more valuable and attractive to elearning professionals.
