If you'd like to repeat an object over a majority of your slides, one of the easiest ways to proceed is to select the object and, on the Properties panel, Timing group, select Display for rest of project. The rest of project option is compelling because it's so simple. Using the Timing group, select Display for rest of project.

At some point I used the spell check feature ( Project > Check Spelling ). There was a typo flagged in that very same caption, which I naturally allowed Captivate to fix. If you resize a text caption or button in Adobe Captivate, and then edit the object's text at all, the object will do you a favor and resize.

Adding audio to your Captivate project is one of the best ways to increase the effectiveness of the lesson. For instance, if you want to add audio to the project slide, you would choose Audio > Import to > Slide. If your project consisted of 100 slides and hundreds of objects, you would be looking at thousands of clicks.

The only drawback here is that you do need to edit the.html file every time you republish the project--a minor annoyance if it gets rid of a major headache. If you know you will always want this behavior in all of your published projects, you can change the file on which your.html output is based.

If you've included a Table of Contents (TOC) in your Captivate project, there are two important Run Time Options that you'll find interesting: Self Paced Learning and Navigation. Choose Project > Table of Contents to display the TOC tab of the Skin Editor. The status flag will not be reset after the project is closed.

In an ideal world, your Captivate projects would be kept to a respectable number of slides (fewer than approximately 100). Larger projects will take longer to produce, longer to publish, longer for learners to download and, most importantly, longer to complete. Choose File > New Project > Aggregator Project.
