In this two part blog series we look at information that you can use in Adobe Captivate 5 to parallel decide the quality of an image and the SWF file size and bring forth the differences between the publishing of images in CP 4 and CP 5. You’ll need to change your File Type if it defaults to “Create PDF / XPS ” 4. Since I am always looking for ways to keep my file size low, I select. If you have more than 1 slide, PowerPoint will save each slide in your presentation as a separate file in the folder.

When importing such a file an individual folder will be created (under the root, not under Images), with the same name as the PS-file, and having all the layers converted to PNG images (there is a screenshot later on showing such a PS folder). Captivate users tend to insert assets one by one on slides using the Media Button.

They are undoubtedly a main element to elearning but do you know your png from your svg? here’s a list of file types and what the differences and uses are. Pro’s – salable (without loss of quality) small file size, transparent. Cons – bigger than jpegs, images have very large files sizes.

File size of SVG’s tend to be smaller, compared with bitmap images, and moreover they are excellent for responsive project due to their vector nature. Same for the clickable area: can be limited to the image itself (provided you have an image with transparent pixels of course – no JPEG but GIF or PNG).
