Is PowerPoint the most widely used tool for eLearning development? Most of the new authoring tools either use PPT as their backbone or offer the ability to import slides. Interface creation, navigation buttons, LMS tracking, and testing abilities are then typically added to the PPT functionality. Everyone has PPT.

The RCAT (rapid content authoring tool) market continues to be healthy with nothing to slow it down – uh, except maybe one thing (more on that later). I am still surprised on how vendors who are offering assessment only tools are staying in the game. Perhaps their audience is unaware of LMSs who offer assessment tools.

PowerPoint is not E-Learning and shouldn’t be used as your course tool/development – For whatever reason, there are people who have been around online learning for years, who still see PPT as a means for the creation of content – i.e. courses. PPT is boring. I’m asking for a friend. No way around it.

The author has good before and after examples. Play Around with the Software. Compared to building courses in Flash or Authorware, the rapid elearning tools are easy to use. In addition, try to connect with expert users of the software and show them what you’ve done and ask for opinions. December 11th, 2007.

Actually, it can be just as exhausting and face nearly same challenges when you are looking for an authoring tool to build your courses. Authoring tools list AKA Where do you want to live. That same occurs when you are deciding on an authoring tool. I’m interested in what type of house err tool.

Transitions, Animations, Views – I am fine using it once, but again, new product-new version, so why I am still seeing PowerPoint within this product to such a point, that TAV are exactly the same as in PPT? Joking aside much of the ribbon, maybe all, I wasn’t doing a cross comparison with PPT, seemed to remind me of PPT.

As the evolution of e-learning continues, the rapid content authoring tools (RCAT) market follows suit. While the assumption would be that all the products are alike, or that fee based tools are superior to their free counterparts, nothing could be farther than the truth. Macromedia Authorware and similar products.
