You can use either your own 3rd party content authoring tool and upload it into the “Cloud&# and then wherever you are, output either to your LMS, or onto Moodle or even WordPress (they have a plug in for that) OR place the course in Facebook or nearly any solution that accepts APIs. LMS, web, CD, etc., Game Changer!

Are there vendors in the e-learning space who lack basic understanding around e-learning? Lastly, if the vendors, organizations and firms whose whole background, expertise and existence is tied to e-learning and they themselves are not fully understanding it, does this bode well for the industry as a whole?

It comes from me talking to vendors, buyers, monitoring the industry all the while taking notes and seeing the trends/patterns appear right before my eyes. Web site stinks = product stinks. What has always amazed me are number of e-learning vendor web sites whose design looks like it came from 1995 when Netscape ruled the land.

Standalone Quiz/Assessment Tools. I’ve really been watching this space for the past two years, and while there continue to be enough products that fit within this category, I’m on the belief that this space is on the downside. The same can be said for survey tools.

They involved talent management, “hello and goodbye” with vendors, social learning, upswing in mobile learning, new feature sets in the authoring tool space, flat lining in web conferencing and standalone platforms. I have seen continued interest and downloads for open source AR tool kits.

Unfortunately, too many vendors in the e-learning space have failed to see the power and potential of this capability, and have decided to ignore them. Facilitation now exists between the pieces of software, similar to interaction between a human and a computer (again, in a basic example). Open Architecture.

Emerging technology that has I believe the potential to do wonders in the e-learning space. Why have a virtual classroom that in essence is a web conferencing tool where you “aren’t really there”? These four types of emerging technology are immediately applicable to e-learning.
