Using Authorware , learning professionals could create learning programs with hyper-simplistic designs, primarily through dragging and dropping icons. While powerful for their time, these tools were not easy to use, requiring complex programming skills.

HTML5 output. Right now I am doing a survey on authoring tools (more on this at the end of the post) and so far 100% of all respondents state that HTML5 output is required in an authoring tool. I do believe that HTML5 output will continue to grow as an authoring tool feature. HTML5 templates. Audio Editing.

Templates, themes, debug tool (nice), translation tool (nice too). Tin Can API support, HTML5 output, ADA 508 and SCORM. HTML5 integration, SCORM. Custom learning paths, templates. Output to HTML5. Variables, actions, objects, free-form, templates. Will it replicate those craving for an Authorware return?

Templates including ones for layout, quizzes. New Slide – Create a new page, chapter, lesson, whatever, generally speaking Slide screams PPT and no offense to the person who has been doing ID for x number of years, if you said “slide” to someone working on Authorware back in the day, you would have gotten a head slap.

Templates – growing at quick clip. Some vendors push heavily on PPT, implying that a great WBT is really a PPT converted to Flash. Flash output – still red hot. Listen, Authorware is dead, so why create a product that is trying to bring it back to life with your own product? It isn’t.
