Missed the beginning of the presentation due to my computer’s inability to start Elluminate in under 9 minutes). Could see benefits even if hesitant. Saw benefits of new features–collaboration, easier to learn, sharing resources between courses. Participants who were successful saw benefits early and were optimistic.

GLEAN, a Google Apps mashup using Yammer , Voice Thread , Elluminate , and other tools, became a reality soon after the IT head saw a similar network in action at another university. Focus on the benefits to the people in the organization and the IT group. We needed to get on board and support what we know our students want.

While it seems contradictory at first, it’s this ad-hoc format that benefits most from structure. During the Elluminate sessions, we often had heady academic discourses by those running the session, sometimes allowing little time for feedback. The difficult part of reading this was the fact that these examples were indeed available!
