Prodigy (the first portal, pre-CompuServe and AOL -for home use), modem was 4800 bytes. Other options were universities who went online, via Lotus Notes. Heck, I was in a doctorate program, whereas the majority of the ‘courses’ was via Lotus Notes, the other was ILT. Blackboard. Blackboard. Yep doable.

Popular ones included Lotus Notes, Blackboard and WebCT. AVU now offers 219 course modules in math, science, teacher education, basic ICT skills and ICT classroom intregration through an online interactive portal. It still has a way to go, but it is happening – and happening faster than its corporate counterpart.
