The wrong version of php or MySQL installed will render one or more of these software packages dead. When push comes to shove you’ll likely find yourself close to last in the business race. Finding a host capable of handing such a dynamic system can be difficult and often expensive.

You also need to contact the vendor and license updates and upgrades (though some might be included for free in the licensing price). The downside to the hosted LMS solution is that it takes some time to deploy a new one (usually 1-2 business days), as a new server has to be setup and provisioned for you. Hosted LMS.

Ask and see what can be done by the vendor. Some vendors will charge you per customization. Maybe you need specific reports that are not currently available in your system (extra charge), maybe you want an e-commerce component and the vendor does not offer it (extra charge), etc. So, what do you do? Additional cost. If not, ask.
