An activity stream is a mash-up of an individual’s or organization’s feeds. For example, my FriendFeed pages show activity from this blog, the Internet Time Blog, my Flickr account, bookmarks I put on Delicious, and my entries from Twitter. Activity streams are going to be wildly important for social learning.

So I posted this question on my Twitter stream - "Anyone using either Twitter or Plurk with students for real learning/teaching? Kim Gaskins (Cambridge, Massahusetts: USA) felt that the choice was clear - some of the online discussion groups she had experienced were 'a mess' and Twitter did seem a lot cleaner.

While I write a couple of public-facing blogs, Internet Time and the Informal Learning Blog , I spend more time participating in group discussions, writing comments, making online presentations, adding descriptions on sites like Flickr, posting to my wiki , and so forth. My blogs show but one of many perspectives of Jay.

Re-orientation

Now, the torrent of information generated by the ever increasing stream of new developments has rendered this impossible. One of my colleagues at togetherLearn voiced concern that it was disorienting to have our internal discussions spread over several social platforms, a standalone wiki, a persistent Skype chat, and email.
