In the webinar, I brought up how LMS vendors were themselves perpetuating the myth of the bad things of social media (which is a necessary component of social learning), so, rather than identify the facts and data to potential clients who are concerned about social media and thus social learning, they instead do not include it in their system.

How many of you have posted questions regarding LMSs on Quora, Linkedin or the various other social media sites available on the net? How many of you have seen vendors respond to your questions? Collaboration, create learner groups for social, some type of chat function. Q: I use only Macs will every LMS work with it?

Its user interface reminds me a little of the Mac interface because at the bottom of the screen a set of widgets are listed as icons. Example of Primary: Active directory, assessment tool, social learning features and SCORM are all bonuses. Its a hybrid of a learning platform, learning exchange and social collaboration.

In the case of the Avant, it was the Avant browser, due to other issues and not the vendor’s system. Several years ago, many LMS vendor products did not work on Macs, a major consternation for end users who used this system. Two years ago, there were LMS vendors systems who did not work on Chrome. Then and Now.

Many companies ban access to social media sites, especially Facebook. Works on Mac. For the desktop products it is still amazing at the number which do not work on Macs. That everyone uses Facebook, you know the 20 something crowd. Here is a news flash: It’s not true. I’d offer both. People like STT.
