An API (Application Program Interface) enables an interface from a piece of software to communicate with another piece of software (in its simplest form) or multiple pieces of software (called a mashup). Search for restaurants in Google and Google Maps shows up with the various restaurants on the map. Mashups Possibilities.

Revenues across the board are up, profit margins are healthy and competition is on-going (always a good thing). Illogical – I often see systems that add features that seem as though they tossed a bunch of ideas on a wall and whatever stuck up there, went into their platform. Moodle Syndrome. The LMS market is strong.

You can use either your own 3rd party content authoring tool and upload it into the “Cloud&# and then wherever you are, output either to your LMS, or onto Moodle or even WordPress (they have a plug in for that) OR place the course in Facebook or nearly any solution that accepts APIs. Game based learning. Mashups, Google charts.

While they still offer the LMS as we all know it, and its “learning&# approach, they are really driving into the TM space. Greater number of vendors switching to only SAAS or “in the cloud&# rather than self-hosted. 2 Mobile Learning. 3 Social Learning. A continuing and growing market, more vendors.

I like this system and its functionality in comparison to the other players in this space. That said, across the board for all Big Dog systems, their social learning functionality was weak. Nothing wrong with Moodle mind you and a lot of people love it, but if you want to look at someone else, here is that someone else.
