Q : I am curious on why Cornerstone On Demand, Saba and SumTotal do not appear in your top twenty lists even though they appear on other sites as the best products in the market. My latest take on those three vendors (plus one) are: Cornerstone On Demand – I have seen the new UI and I like what I saw. Am I missing something?

Best of the Best – Extended Enterprise or multi-tenant LMSs

That is the problem with the term and as such it creates quite a confusion in the marketplace. The problem is that there is no one size that fits all. If you are someone who is considering some of the bigger dogs like Cornerstone or SumTotal, I would seriously look at these guys. E-Learning 24/7. I wish it would.

Top 10 LMSs for 2013

As a former training director I had enough problems with users buzzing me about whatever, but having the name of the vendor too would not be good. E-commerce fee per year. E-Commerce with many vendors is included nowadays. SumTotal: Expensive system and what you are buying is name IMO. Saba: See SumTotal.

M-Learning: Where’s the app for that?

It works for their Total LMS (Enterprise) and for their Geo Learning Maestro. Blackboard Learn? I am confident that a vendor who sees value in terms of mobile learning (and thus that do – see that), can afford $500, even a $2,000 for an app. That alone, though will not solve the problem. Yep, an app.

Smaller size vendors are now entering the foray. The problem though lies in the fact that once you add some features, eventually you will need to add more and more (HRIS modules for example), which then places you into the ERP space and those vendors.

User Friendly or Hype?

Some vendors who have failed to deliver, in my opinion, a user friendly system, due to front end or back end (admin side), or sometimes both. The worst of the offenders. CourseMill 6 by Trivantis. Plateau Talent Management System.

Latest E-Learning Trends – Some good, some bad

I am seeing many vendors whose products were built for SMB (and more aligned on the lower side of mid size companies) who are now pushing into the mid/upper mid to large size customer band. The problem here is that they developed a solution that is not made for 10,000 or more end users. Identify the problem, the vendor too.
