There are more vendors who do not offer the ability to post – i.e. add audio afterwards it is quite amazing. Again, simple and yet again arguably with many vendors difficult to do. I realized I left out three additional gems that vendors seem to have just fallen off the planet when it comes to the REAL WORLD! They are not going away, and yet an enormous amount of vendors do not support them, let alone Safari. Some home users are upgrading to 32 bit OS of Windows 7 as well. Many vendors support this.

Long has tools such as Studio and Captivate been on the higher side, the same can be said for vendors such as Rapid Intake and dominKnow. Because other vendors are getting into the act as well. Regardless, if you are not upgrading its not cheap. Platte Canyon – Toolbook 11 (full version) $2,795 per license.

The big elephant in the room that we hear so many times and vendors love to pitch (to get you to their system), but rarely the vendors themselves will admit to – many have only themselves to blame. Sometimes, it is the client’s fault and sometimes it is the vendor’s fault. Why, Oh Why do I lose the love?

A lot of great products out there this year, new updates and latest versions; new companies, new services and just some real innovation. I include Learning Portals, LCMSs, as part of the mix. That said, across the board for all Big Dog systems, their social learning functionality was weak. You want the LSP version.

When it comes to the e-learning market, specifically the LMS space (and you can toss in LCMS, CMS, Learning Portals as well), there are a lot of traps that customers fall into and can’t get out. Sometimes it is a result of the vendor, other times it is a failure of due diligence on the part of the soon to be customer.
