Stephen Downes commented on my recent post - Personal Work and Learning Environments (PWLE) - More Discussion and said - I am opposed to the trend coming from the corporate learning side of the house to treat PLEs as work tools. Stephen's very much correct about a PLE being for the person.

Today, Tom mentions that "James Ryan left an extensive comment on Enterprises that love PLEs. But that does not equal a Personal Learning Environment.

Proxy error or firewall problem. These are the structures that constrain education and stop learners from achieving their full potential. VLEs are generally difficult to use, with far too much effort needed to be put into understanding how the system works, to the detriment of the time and effort spent actually learning.
