I know there are TONS of really great apps out there that let you add amazing effects to your photos with just one click. However, at times you might enjoy a more hands-on, creative approach to working with your photos. Snagit allows you to add some terrific photo effects using the basic tools and some photo masking stamps.

Snagit makes it easy to mark up and talk right over top of a still image. This can be a really quick way to share your thoughts on a screenshot, photo, or even a blank “whiteboard.”. With Snagit, you can simply talk and draw like you would if marking up a physical document with a pen then send it to a colleague or student.

An example embed from CodePen: See the Pen LfiqI by Brian ( @bbennett ) on CodePen. Students write up their code and then fire up something like Snagit for Google Chrome and talk through their code. You can also use these images in Camtasia Studio to add masking effects to your videos (see a sample video here.). It should have plenty of white space which becomes transparent allowing your photo or video to show through. With the black and white image open in Snagit Editor, select File > Save As. Click Save.
