#HRTECH Learning Vendors Preview – Who to see and who to avoid

eLearning 24-7

Well, not yet, but it is coming up and with that are all those wonderful vendors and that magical expo. But one of the biggest problems I see at such shows are the number of vendors who in hindsight I wished I avoided. I recall at ATD this past year, a vendor who was trying to sell people ahead of time their LMS. And, because many of the other vendors who are here at HR Tech, really are just average to poor (but not everyone). Welcome, welcome all!

Skillsoft – An Analyst Perspective

eLearning 24-7

A behemoth, impressive and at the same time, seen in a “Evil Empire” perspective among other vendors in the mid 2000s. This is also about a vendor who lost their way. A vendor who made not only poor business decisions with the likes of Percipio, but also with the monumental blunder of acquiring SumTotal. . And yes, there were salespeople who ignored the buy content get Skillport for free, by selling it, on top of a client buying the Skillsoft content. .

Skillsoft buying SumTotal – My Take

eLearning 24-7

I am always bothered when vendors see the entities as one in the same. I seriously wonder if those vendors who push this angle, have ever worked in training at a company (inc. To think that a vendor such as SumTotal, who sells SumTotal Learn and offers a multi-tenant platform with e-commerce, would see learning as an entity with HR. There are plenty of other “LMS” vendors who pitch learning under HR or as a true component of HR).

LMS Satisfaction Features and Barriers

Tony Karrer

These are being reported out of the larger eLearningGuild population and I would claim that they are likely more accurate than survey research that goes through the vendors themselves. Several of the LMS vendors appear more than once, such as Oracle. However, I would be concerned if I was a starter LMS vendor because Moodle is going to cause you grief in the bottom of the market. SkillPort scores very high as well on satisfaction. SkilISoft SkillPort Skillsoft 12 8.03
