When is a LMS not a LMS?

They are the next generation of lite learning management systems and not the anti-establishment of such systems. Some base analytics – who took the course, completed the course, maybe progress. Reports – just a few. The analytics often are just a couple of histogram charts, but simple. Not sure who they are.

They are still around, but what I am seeing is an uptick in online authoring systems. LMS streamlined functionality – some reports, minor analytical date, e-mail messaging (I have even seen SMS – sweet), batch uploading of users and yes, I have seen two vendors add some tracking functionality.
