LMS Vendors and Tablets Update. The latest projected number of just iPads to be sold by the end of 2010 is 19 million units. My next new blog post will appear on November 17th, 2010. E-Learning 24/7. Gartner projects 54.8 million tablets to be sold by the end of 2011 & over 208 million units in 2014.

On 11-18-2010, I was part of an online panel discussing whether the LMS as we know it is dead and if not, what is the evolution of the LMS. Majority of employees access a LMS or Learning Portal out of the workplace. But, the reason I constantly bash this into e-learning vendors heads is this just DON’T GET IT.

Emerging Technology? Apparently, the potential customers and even clients are speaking and those vendors are listening. A significant number of vendors, reported higher revenue and sales numbers in 2010, then in 2009. Then in some circles it was the smartphones and the power of social learning with said smartphones.

The latest projected number of iPads and other tablets to be sold by the end of 2010 is 19.5 That said, why is this happening: A significant (over 90%) of vendors are holding off this year and at least part of next year from optimizing their solution to the iPad.
