Adobe Flash is dying. Long ago Steve Jobs stopped the usage of Flash in Apple devices. But, ever since Google announced that it would block flash in its browsers, the impact has been huge. Also, most of the Android devices too do not support Flash. Also, most of the Android devices too do not support Flash.

A few vendors say “social learning” but it is often far from it. I’m always amazed at some of the names vendors come up with for authoring tools. Studio has always been known for the PowerPoint to Flash approach, but it also includes audio narration, TOC (yeah!) and customized player. Not with Publisher.

This process may assist you in the next year or two as we prepare for potential course re-development opportunities due to the slow but eventual demise of the Flash player. Recently I was asked to estimate how long it would take to re-build five e-Learning courses created with another software program in Captivate.

That said, there were some hiccups and from an entire vendor wise (expo here) angle, some unique and some, uh. This year, I estimated a 55/60% e-learning, including some ILT vendors offering some type of e-learning component. . I see way too many vendors think a web site is all they need and people will find them.

I would encourage all tool vendors to take a good hard look at the products they sell and ensure that they are offering something unique and useful. Joe: Tool vendors have been more reactive than proactive in many ways. They offer different avenues to mobile delivery, such as having free mobile players for different devices.

In 2017, Adobe made a formal announcement stating that from 2020 the company would no longer support Flash. These Flash files could be viewed on browsers using a Flash player, and on the PC using some third-party applications. So, what went wrong with Flash?
