How do I communicate the value of social media as a learning tool to my organization? Identifying the IT social media users and doing some initial legwork for them could help. The slides were similar to eLearning 2.0 Almost no one was familiar with social bookmarking. Oh, and I just saw that Kevin Jones posted his thoughts around the session: TK08 - Tony Karrer and Implementation of Social Learning. Good adoption. The first session was an Introduction to eLearning 2.0.

I've embedded all the content from the slides. Existing Adoption At the very start I asked the audience for examples of where they were currently using these tools as part of learning solutions. I discussed the fact that there was a common Adoption Pattern that went from personal adoption to work groups to organization.

I recommend adopting their tools and their security mechanisms. Yammer (internal twittering) is almost impossible to explain to someone who has no experience with any social networking (and probably not with anything more than email lists). Social bookmarking and wikis are often a smart replacement with obvious side benefits.

Today I was on a panel about social learning. No matter what anyone tells you, no one really has a clue how to “do&# social in the enterprise. Introduction to Social Networking. This is not too difficult when all your participants are social media adepts, you announce your hashtags and off they go. Makes no sense.

Here are slides from the presentation I did yesterday. SMBs & Social Media (Sum Total). Other notes: Definition of social media vary among attendees (~160). Noted main difference between main stream media and social media. Social media enables everyone to publish/access info inexpensively.
