How many of you have seen vendors respond to your questions? A: Virtually every LMS vendor out there in the marketplace provides these features. Congrats, you are probably looking at less than 10 (based on my LMS directory which contains 475 vendors). Streaming video – low number of systems. SCORM/AICC/PENS/IMS.

In 2002, a company created video courses that were AICC compliant and could be bookmarked. The vendor? Streaming to your Television. If there was ever a technology that is emerging and continues to do is – its streaming. Use this powerhouse and stream it to a television or mobile device. It was revoluntary.

What I am finding is that AICC is nearly gone in the LEP space (as it is with LMSs too), so if I was you, I’d seek SCORM, SCORM 1.2, PENS is nearly non-existent in this segment and CMI-5 is extremely new and few vendors have it – expect more in 2019. Most vendors in the LEP segment have this. Video streaming.

Bewildered on what is happening, why what is needed isn’t appearing as it should, and how is it possible that something so obvious based on where e-learning is heading, mobile is pushing and future tech is inspiring is lost among so many vendors? And therein lies one of the issues, that is showing up with many, many vendors.

The problem though is that there is a crisis going on in the K-12 sector and it is tied in part to e-learning (with wins and losses) and LMS vendors who serve that sector. and K-12 LMS vendors (a chunk of them). Possibly three parties in the rest of the world – Schools, some Governments, and a nice slice of K-12 LMS vendors.
