About a year ago, I wrote about the Beginning of Long Slow Death of Flash. I pointed to Scribd switching from Flash to HTML, and pointed to their CTO Jared Friedman saying: "We are scrapping three years of Flash development and betting the company on HTML5 because we believe HTML5 is a dramatically better reading experience than Flash.

Interestingly, a large portion of LMS vendors have not optimized their products for the iPad/ iPad2 and with the exception of two content authoring tools, HTML5 capabilities, specifically the ability to output a course in HTML5 does not yet exist. Look at the numbers of WOW (World of Warcraft) players. It continues to grow.

I believe that you can expect some type of voice capability with the actors/avatars as in the ability to either lip synch with the characters via audio tool/recording tool in the product will show up more in 2013. Listen you love flash. In 2012, I’ve seen a slow uptake with tools that can output to HTML5. What is TinCan?

Some vendors push heavily on PPT, implying that a great WBT is really a PPT converted to Flash. Flash output – still red hot. Over 98% of the LMS/LCMS/learning platform have at least one compliance standard, so why use a RCAT that doesn’t? Flash isn’t going anywhere, except maybe the route of leaded gasoline.

″ Now, a new player hit the market with a 10.7″ Umm, lets see: Swf (yes, Flash and not Flash lite either) – An e-reader already boosts this as a new feature into the marketplace. Ipad is going to use HTML5 instead of.swf, assuming they can get it to work in the near future, but its Flash sans Adobe.
