I agree the technologies to create, deploy and manage HTML5-based mobile web apps will greatly improve in 2012 but I don't feel they will mature to the point they can replace all native apps – at least in most of the primary enterprise use cases for learning that’s managed and tracked. A couple of rapid content authoring tool vendors are incorporating HTML5 features in their tool, which can be used on tablets, and of course the iPad. According to a person I spoke with last week at the Articulate booth at Tech Knowledge 2011, Articulate is expecting to roll out HTML5 functionality in their product in Q4 2011 or Q1 2012.
