First off, Jane Hart put this together from whereas folks voted for the tools they use for learning. That said, there were some curious items on this list, which to me, doesn’t really fly in the world of learning tools. I use Twitter, but there is no way, I see it as a learning tool. To me, this is not a learning tool.

Authoring tools continued to be a mish-mash, with many continuing to forget what their number one goal truly is – creating content/courses. Articulate Rise, is a cloud-based authoring tool, not a hybrid – and will fully admit as so. Desktop authoring tools are still out there -and yes, I too, ask why. .

Standalone Quiz/Assessment Tools. I love Questionmark, its a wonderful product and it can use a “connector” to integrate into your learning platform or system. However, times are continuing to change in regards to the overall standalone quiz/assessment tools market. The same can be said for survey tools.

You either had to keep the door open and hear outside noise or keep it closed. Authoring tool vendors were no-shows as well. . For the last two years, I ask my audience (I present at OEB), if they use 3rd party authoring tools. Number three were open source systems with Moodle leading the way. The winner?

Credentials open up more hiring opportunities. One e-learning vendor who has as part of their assessment solutions has an online proctoring component is Questionmark. For content aggregators – the best is Open Sesame – which can add the content into your learning system, followed by GO1 and Biz Library.
