He was the founder and CEO of Authorware, a revolutionary eLearning authoring tool. Authorware merged with MacroMind/Paracomp to become Macromedia, which was later acquired by Adobe. It continues to frustrate me that I can’t get more people to commit to making a better use of learner time. It’s not that difficult.

Who knew this was not a good business plan? The dominating authoring tool by far, was Authorware. Authorware usage and fan base made Storyline supporters and usage look like a rock stage at a state fair. There are even fans today of Authorware, who if it was still around, would bounce right into it. Dinosaurs roamed.

Once again limiting companies, businesses, associations, and so on, to a few and not all? Causing a do we do this and buy this OR sacrifice that – at the cost of their own learners? It’s not cheap, with average pricing ranges running from 75 thousand dollars to more than 500, 000 thousand dollars (USD). Including, CLO?

Adobe Captivate – They were not the first authoring tool in the industry; Authorware was the first commercial success, heavily used with CBT, and then even into WBT (web-based). As a learner, would I find, whatever it may be, something I would enjoy and use? It is a system I’d be a fan of using as a learner.

Learners would be able to access content nuggets (videos, documents, or mini courses) from corporate information systems just when they need them. Mobile devices will again be the driver for this change as learners start accessing learning content just when they need it. Here’s what I think will happen: 1. example: Pune Layar ).

In the early days of e-learning course creation, you could either use your in-house instructional designer(s), self-teach yourself Authorware, DazzlerMax, and similar tools – or have your in-house ID person do it for you, outsource development to a 3rd party aka custom development for your proprietary course.
