CBT Prior to online learning known then as WBT, and then the latter term of e-learning (vendors today, use it to refer to content that is online), there was CBT. If you needed to download the report, you could. You could say for everyone learner or just a group of learners, you could do this for every publisher that the vendor offered.

My latest take on those three vendors (plus one) are: Cornerstone On Demand – I have seen the new UI and I like what I saw. They also have a lot of partnerships with LMS vendors – so that adds to an additional distribution channel. . This is why, you see some vendors doing quite well and others who are not.

I suspect some vendors might tie it together in some pricing approach, giving an appearance that it is free. . The buzz word “Mobile First” is already in play in the LMS world and now it is appearing more frequently in the authoring tool space, especially among SaaS vendors. No shock here. Yeah, got it. Web Conferencing tools, requiring you to download plug-ins or other files before you can start – one of the biggest pet peeves among end users, and the number one reason why people fail to get in, ending up calling your administrator, or you. I came into rapid e-learning from the world of Authorware and Flash where building courses took a lot of time and cost a lot more money. As soon as I asked that question, I heard all of the bellyaching from our Flash developers and most of the custom e-learning vendors we hired. The industry is hotter today than it was ten years ago.

I am still surprised on how vendors who are offering assessment only tools are staying in the game. Some vendors push heavily on PPT, implying that a great WBT is really a PPT converted to Flash. Listen, Authorware is dead, so why create a product that is trying to bring it back to life with your own product? It isn’t.
