For those of us who were there the first time around, we saw quite a bit with e-learning and the world for online corporate learning. The dominating authoring tool by far, was Authorware. Authorware usage and fan base made Storyline supporters and usage look like a rock stage at a state fair. Dinosaurs roamed.

I thought about this, as you can tell, and said to myself, okay, let’s write a post where the e-learning history and thus learning systems, authoring tools, and alike are intertwined with good and bad ideas. I was using DazzlerMax and Authorware, which are superior offerings for creating courses.

Should I write a follow-up to a webinar that I co-presented whereas nearly 500 people attended, even though webinar and online meeting fatigue has set in? Then there are “this is what I will write” only to change my mind at the last second. Never though a total conundrum. Which I thank all those who did push pas that).

PowerPoint is not E-Learning and shouldn’t be used as your course tool/development – For whatever reason, there are people who have been around online learning for years, who still see PPT as a means for the creation of content – i.e. courses. Learning System Execs of the Year – Something new for 2020.

CBT Prior to online learning known then as WBT, and then the latter term of e-learning (vendors today, use it to refer to content that is online), there was CBT. CBT was the “new” and exciting way to learn. The Birth of Online Here comes the internet, Mosaic 2.1 WBT (Web-Based Training).

The biggest problem facing the industry in the past few years are the lack of course authoring tools for e-learning developers and instructional designers. Sure, you can use the extensive list of tools on the market, but for those who want real power and complexity ala from the days of Authorware, pickings are slim. It’s free.

Honestly, I wish they would do more with their “online” version, in comparison but they have not. Online fundamentals training (huh? 16 Seminar Learning Systems – Seminar Author. Will it replicate those craving for an Authorware return? Fun Features. Comes with Flypaper 3.9,
