Zero web conferencing vendors – I guess business is booming for you – the economy clearly is not playing a factor. This year, I looked at more products then before, and listened to more sales pitches then before – which is always a mixed bag. Here is my conversation with their sales person. Product Time.

Innovation abounded and the push to focus on the “PPT to Flash&# angle continued to shine. iPod, mobile phones, YouTube, message boards, e-mail. Import and convert PPT to the web, add rich media. In 2010, the RCAT market continued its upswing and nothing indicates to me it will be changing anytime soon. Supports HD h.264

The two biggest negatives IMO, is that it just isn’t robust enough for e-learning developers and its whole focus on PPT into converting to a course doesn’t help. However, there are plenty of people who have come to rely on the desktop version and by doing so, would it hurt sales? Yeah, people love it.

If they do not offer unlimited sessions per month, then they shouldn’t be in this business. Most licenses (again depends on vendor) includes unlimited webinars for the month and either unlimited people or a limit of people per month (example 25 per session). Bob, VP of Sales, wants to hold (dare I say it?)

They fail to even clearly show their product, let alone present the product sans the standard PPT intro that comes with “learn more” about the solution. For many vendors it is all about the phone call. At least, the 90 minute block has been set aside – for you and the sales person.

A robust learning solution of multiple capabilities and outputs? If a RCAT vendor tells you they have been in business for over 10 years, they are somewhat misleading, since WBT courses really didn’t start to hit the mark until 2000 and then you have limited choices on how to build.
