Old-school LMS companies (like SumTotal , Plateau , Learn.com , GeoLearning and Certpoint ) were acquired by much larger talent and HR-suite providers like SAP/SuccessFactors , Infor , Oracle and IBM. Other well-known independent players like Cornerstone , Saba and Workday opted to compete by building their own talent suites.

Saba - A solid system, but IMO (in my opinion) better suited for talent/performance management. On the Maestro side (formally GeoLearning), I don’t understand how they could have dropped the ball on the platform. Here is my list (both from a business and system standpoint). Beyond bad when it comes to marketing.

On behalf of a blog reader, I had the opportunity to listen in on a webinar for the Taleo Learn Business Edition. It is solid product nevertheless, and if you want a strong Point of Sale solution, I would recommend taking a look at their Tango product – which is the best m-learning product for the iPad I have seen.

Worse, there are a large number of vendors whose “contact us&# or “inquire sales&# goes into a deep black hole. Consumers expect a one business day response. Hiring someone who offers business intelligence services. Melon Learning Suite – includes their LMS and Author solution – March. 2nd-4th.

They are moving towards a broader suite that focuses on other aspects of Talent Management. But given the number of respondents who've rated them low on satisfaction, it would give me pause during a selection process (so that makes me worried about sales), it also would have worried me as a potential investor.
