One thing that I've not heard discussed as much is the voice recognition and text-to-speech of the application.

HTML5 output. Right now I am doing a survey on authoring tools (more on this at the end of the post) and so far 100% of all respondents state that HTML5 output is required in an authoring tool. I do believe that HTML5 output will continue to grow as an authoring tool feature. HTML5 templates. Others have at least 10.

Some vendors push heavily on PPT, implying that a great WBT is really a PPT converted to Flash. Flash output – still red hot. In the latest podcast featuring Volkner Zimmerman who is on the executive board at IMC-AG, he explicitly states that HTML5 is necessary in any course output for mobile. Change is invetiable.

I’ve always found this product to be the top of the line for PowerPoint to Flash course builds. Granted the changes are limited but at least it is something. HTML5 output, publish to the iPad and text to speech functionality. Yes they were one of the first ones to output to HTML5, but they were not the first.
