Why are some vendors making it impossible? Why are some vendors treating you as a spy or something sinister when you just want to try out the product? You would think that with over 140 authoring tools on the market, vendors would want you to try out their product before dropping any type of cash. Less than 10 vendors.

The King was pushed over the walls by poor design, irrelevancy to the subject and ghastly to say, indifference among various vendors. No one say a traveling band of instructional designers on their way to Canterbury, including said one called Chaucer, had the skill sets to build those courses. For to me, it was all true.

I’m glad they don’t carry the baggage of industrial age instructional systems design and that they embrace new tech faster than most. The Oregon Trail is significant to personal computers in education, but it’s PLATO that started the age of computer-assisted instruction.

This is a growing market with new vendors showing up, but at the same time, others disappearing. If a RCAT vendor tells you they have been in business for over 10 years, they are somewhat misleading, since WBT courses really didn’t start to hit the mark until 2000 and then you have limited choices on how to build. That was then.
