Despite overall consumer demand (not just within e-learning) for tablets, and numbers showing that tablets are outselling notebooks, e-learning vendors as whole are sitting back and waiting. Google – including Google Maps, Google Charts, Google Docs, etc. Google Calendar.

Sure, you can be extremely knowledgeable about the topic (in our case “e-learning”), but the vendor whose own product is built upon and within the e-learning framework should have additional insight, knowledge and understanding which exceeds the average customer looking for whatever online learning item.

International Association for K-12 Online Learning, or iNACOL, estimates that more than 1.5 million K-12 students were engaged in some form of online or blended learning in the 2009-10 school year.

Basically the synchronous approach is in essence, shoving ILT online with some discussion threads, whereas the end user enters in some text, others respond, and they hope the instructor is active in the experience (many are not). Boxee (more on then in a sec). Where is the excitement in that?
