I admit that in general I have been underwhelmed in the past with Saba. So, when I went and checked out Saba Social, Saba’s new social learning platform, I had very low expectations. My Learning – identified the popular courses – solid. I was surprised. They finally figured it out.

Every E-Learning vendor should want your business and treat you as they would want to be treated. Every LMS vendor should have a standard regarding response times, when they receive an inquiry via the internet. I know of one vendor who responds within 30 minutes of receiving an inquiry. E-Learning 24/7.

CBT Prior to online learning known then as WBT, and then the latter term of e-learning (vendors today, use it to refer to content that is online), there was CBT. CBT was the “new” and exciting way to learn. It was a crummy system IMO, dated, and that says something. WBT (Web-Based Training).

20 Saba Learning Suite. With its m-learning capability including on/off synch and rather solid UI, the product continues to be an effective solution. While the pricing is outrageous and the Saba as a whole seems better suited as a HCM, their learning suite is a better alternative than those who want Cornerstone OnDemand.

SumTotal is calling their product a Human Capital Management system. I’m sure the people who had purchased Plateau or even SuccessFactors Learning system were delighted to hear the news. Two examples: In 2010, a person at Saba was talking about their system to me. Are we seeing a trend here?
