Q : I am curious on why Cornerstone On Demand, Saba and SumTotal do not appear in your top twenty lists even though they appear on other sites as the best products in the market. Saba - A solid system, but IMO (in my opinion) better suited for talent/performance management. So, back for another installment. Am I missing something?

This year, I estimated a 55/60% e-learning, including some ILT vendors offering some type of e-learning component. . In all the years I have attended and have known about ATD (formally ASTD), this year is by far the most in terms of e-learning vendors, especially those in the LMS space.

SumTotal is calling their product a Human Capital Management system. Sure, they offer a separate LMS called SumTotal Maestro, but their TM has surprisingly (not really) been morphed into a HCM, will others follow? It can easily change the world of e-learning upside down. And now a brief announcement: Shocking news!

If you are someone who is considering some of the bigger dogs like Cornerstone or SumTotal, I would seriously look at these guys. eLogic Learning ($$-$$$) – Another solid performer who continues to get better and better. A solid performer all around and still a nice winner in the SMB space. E-Learning 24/7.

SumTotal: Expensive system and what you are buying is name IMO. Personally, this is a human capital management system which has a learning component. . Saba: See SumTotal. Strong in social, but also a HCM and as previously noted: They also told me they saw their system as a performance management product, which is fine.

If this is something you are looking for – i.e. a HCM, then they are the ones to go with – over Cornerstone, Oracle-Taleo, SumTotal and alike. Jam – which is their social learning and collaboration tool. Their product is more geared towards a human capital management system, especially with the BizX Suite.
