I’ll be the first to admit, that I was not a big fan of the previous versions of the Plateau system. After viewing the Plateau TMS, my concerns in one area have been eliminated, in others, not so much. Plateau LMS is a Talent Management System, made up of four modules. Plateau Learning. Plateau Performance.

I include Learning Portals, LCMSs, as part of the mix. Big Dog (Saba, SumTotal, Plateau, Cornerstone OnDemand, Learn.com). Extended Enterprise – System must have e-comm, multi-tenet – fully skinnable, additional functionality. You can also sell your Jackdraw courses in the e-comm marketplace.

CBT Prior to online learning known then as WBT, and then the latter term of e-learning (vendors today, use it to refer to content that is online), there was CBT. CBT was the “new” and exciting way to learn. It’s called online learning for a reason, because it is via the internet – online.

10 eLogic Learning - Essential LMS. Features include: Extended enterprise – multiple children/sub-portals, each skinned/branded and each on a separate server – many EEs are on a shared server. Unlimited portals. Back in the days, the Plateau platform was ghastly awful. TinCan with online/offline synch.

The downer on the latter is they are cutting short the feature sets that are possible in an EE, such as multiple domains – standalone, rather than shared on one portal, with sub-portals or having incentive points. I still believe this will be a winner in 2012, and that more vendors will jump into this space. Prediction.

Extended Enterprise – aka Multi-Tenet, Portals-Sub Portals. If you want an EE, you will want e-commerce. Course Authoring Tool . It is the same assumption that unless you buy one of the Big Dogs – Saba, SumTotal, Plateau, etc., So, it becomes one feature you must have, but then drill down.
