Application training via a synchronous tool like WebEx, Adobe Connect, or Elluminate too often ends up with passive learners. I’m guilty of this myself too; I’ve done some boring synchronous training that didn’t offer any opportunity to practice skills. Informative Events vs. Information Dumps.

Elluminate 4.2% 81% said no! GoTo Meeting 2.8%

We decided to mute, similar to what we would do with a big group in a web conferencing tool like WebEx or Elluminate. Read their article on connecting students across multiple locations and TelePresence training materials (including teaching best practices) for more info. Should we mute ourselves when we’re not presenting?

We teach not to create little living libraries on the subject, but practitioners. Tried to show video of Meet Charlotte, but video doesn’t work well over Elluminate. This is not a synchronous platform–experts can use a webcam and easily record and upload content. Aspects of learning. Experience. Conversation.
