Unless a person is viewing it on an iPad device or other tablets OR viewing it on their HDTV device or monitor, I just don’t see the gain. Flash vs. HTML5. I am seeing many vendors still offering the ability to output screen recording and video to flash. I’m not overly sold on HD for online tutorials.

Worse, printing it out and handing it off to be marked up by your SME or another staff person. Remember when only a few offered the PPT to Flash option in their tools? Mobile Learning. Let’s see – what is the fastest e-learning subset ever to garner audience interest for all solutions? What happened?

The reasons will be plentiful but largely driven by better/cheaper/more ubiquitous technologies and everyone’s acceptance of the fact we all use our phones (tablets, et al) to improve both personal and business communications and to be more productive. Yet, a majority of vendors in the e-learning space as a whole, are just not doing it. The LMS space is a major culprit here, because there are vendors who offer mobile learning management systems, or m-learning solutions within their LMS. Oh, yeah, social learning. Having my own virtual desk, is personal.

Another small trend is providing advanced admin capabilities in the form of admins who have CSS, Flash,PHP or other languages. Personally, I think this is a mistake. Same is true for the person overseeing the training department or division. The use of geolocation – available in HTML5. Mobile Learning.

Innovation abounded and the push to focus on the “PPT to Flash&# angle continued to shine. You get the Flash code – YES – you get the code, which you can do whatever you want with it. 264 codec, which the iPad supports, and a few browsers for HTML5. Many vendors hyping PowerPoint to Flash angle as key feature.
