" This adage works for me most of the time as Im designing eLearning courses. Right now, Im feeling like just getting to good would be an achievement. Right now, Im proofing a storyboard thats full of endless text bullets and boring software demos with no interactivity -- and theres really nothing I can do about it.

So Ive been storyboarding differently. Yesterday, after round four of a storyboard review process (which has stretched out for months, by the way, due to unavailable/overloaded client SMEs), the lead ID at my client came back asking for audio on EVERY page. Now, maybe Im just jaded and want to get to an approved storyboard.

I come from an old-school approach: I sort of understand the technology, but I leave the graphics and programming expertise to others. The programming skills should be left to the programmers. Do you work in or favor a design shop where each person has his or her own role (ID, graphics, programming, QA)? Whats your view?

Oh, except Im the developer and audio engineer too. And Im "lucky" enough to have access to the software. Just out of curiosity, what do you use to storyboard your stuff? Im wondering if theres anything better out there. Ive been storyboarding in Word for years and it continues to work for me. 3:30 PM Wendy said.

In Rapid Project Management Techniques for e-Learning presented by Coates & Hill of Deloitte, they outlined their approach to creating a big enterprise-wide training program in an extremely aggressive timeframe. The SMEs had to create the storyboards. If youre providing SMEs with the templates, Im not sure theyll be altering them.
