It’s more sophisticated, but then it’s another application I’m running in parallel (what with iChat , Adium , and Skype all running, and now TweetDeck , Mail , and Firefox, before I’m working in any apps, I’ve got a lot of RAM and CPU cycles being sucked up. You couldn’t do it in video or audio.

Proprietary videoconferencing packages transmitted video back and forth, but most people stopped watching the pictures once the novelty wore off. Skype gives people the ability to place free video calls over the Net. For example, bloggers may not communicate well with IM users. Then, along came the Internet.

No Skype nor Google+ icons and thus direct connections to, under your profile (although I understand with Google+ because it is so new). IM icons under profile – who is still using these things anyway? the Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, External blog, IM connections – Yahoo, AIM, etc., icons listed under profile.

Jing works on both Mac and PC, to capture single pictures or to record video of screen activity. You can also paste the video into an IM chat, email or Twitter. Skype is the software of choice for talking to people over the Internet, using a headset and mic. It doesn’t have video or audio chat, though. SCREENCASTS.
