Unfortunately, too many vendors in the e-learning space have failed to see the power and potential of this capability, and have decided to ignore them. However there are vendors who sell their API solution wrapped in a piece of software. Google code is open source code, so you can manipulate. Typically APIs are free.

The data shows that what many vendors assume end users want is far from accurate. Too many vendors are focusing on talent/performance management as the next feature/component in their systems.

Interestingly, it's Xyleme - an LCMS vendor that is sponsoring the site. I call it working smarter. Jay has launched Working Smarter Daily that collects some of the best thinking on how people and organizations can work smarter. While I like Jay's approach, I'm not sure that specific term will be embraced.
