Example: NexLearn (simulation tool) Helping a 3rd party outfit their tool to contribute statements. version only came out in April of last year -- but the spec will still change -- so the bigger techs don''t want to put forth the effort to adopt it if it''s just going to change. The larger LMSs are slower to adopt. Why is this?

NexLearn Professional sim tool – They want you to sign a MDNA before seeing the product (In my case they thought I was an e-learning developer. Quicklessons – while they do offer a free version, the product most folks will buy they do not. NexLearn Professional – jeez starting to see a trend here?

Thinking Worlds - offers a free version (lame) and a commercial version (better) – create sims and 3D games publish to iPad (have to purchase the TW Pro + iOS edition), very slick. Add lessons – seen in the education versions. Celtix - Enables you to create storyboards and scripts. It’s free. Screen capture.

This version ($40/u/m) is geared towards the instructional designer/developer. SaaS product – but here’s the thing – if you want the course to be in your LMS – it can but it still sits on the ZZ server side and not in your system (should note that the LMS connectivity is available only in the $40/u version).

NexLearn (Simulation tool) – their uber robust sim version will cost you nearly 13K for one license, their base version (Simplicity) $999. Platte Canyon – Toolbook 11 (full version) $2,795 per license. SoftChalk 7 $1,200 (desktop), $795 (cloud) – per license mind you, again at $795 a bargain!

Collaboration/Peer Review – For the vendors who are more advanced, time stamps, version status, SME names or initials are included. . NexLearn Simwriter – Waiting to see the latest version. It all sounds great, until you start taking a dive into those assets. As with anything, some are slick, some are not.
