Now, go back to the late 90s into the early 2000’s, with instructional designers developing WBT courses (Web-Based Training) and e-learning developers. Macromedia Dreamweaver came out with templates. Dreamweaver was the tool to use for web design and development.

In 2000, I built my own LMS for a company, and was hired to create an e-learning program for customer training, as well as run a training division with ILT still in play (blended). Other fun tidbits AICC was the leader here, then came SCORM. Dreamweaver then added templates, allowing folks to create courses. Blackboard.

If a RCAT vendor tells you they have been in business for over 10 years, they are somewhat misleading, since WBT courses really didn’t start to hit the mark until 2000 and then you have limited choices on how to build. Eventually, Macromedia Dreamweaver came into the picture. That was then. Macromedia Director. That has changed.
