We enjoyed in-person meetings and the serendipitous hallway encounter that led to a great idea. xAPI was a glimmer in the eye of ADL, Rustici and in particular Ben Clark, who was spearheading Project Tin Can development. SCORM 2004 and AICC. Fast forward to today, and things look a lot different.

ADL (Advanced Distributed Learning). The first official eLearning content standard, AICC was developed by the Aviation Industry CBT Committee in 1993 as a CD-ROM based standard.
