CBT Prior to online learning known then as WBT, and then the latter term of e-learning (vendors today, use it to refer to content that is online), there was CBT. CBT was the “new” and exciting way to learn. Instructional design was actually being used. WBT (Web-Based Training). Yep doable.

Buttons, menus and design that makes no sense, to anyone – with placement that is not even remotely logical or user driven. The products are designed for people who have limited to no real technical skills, such as programming skills or writing HTML, javascript, etc. The worst of the offenders. Some of the biggest problems.

Some tools offer more advanced capabilities and features for folks who have a strong ID (instructional design) or e-learning developer skill sets. Geared towards ID and e-learning developer folks. I’ve seen a few of these and then had to ask the vendor if the client paid extra for such a design.
