Well, sometimes you can strike lucky and find exactly what you want on Google Images or in your organisation's own image library (chance would be a fine thing); you could take your own photos or knock up a simple chart or diagram in a graphics programme. That's when I turn to clip art and stock photography.

You can get these figures to adopt whatever pose or expression you like - something that's not possible with clip art or stock photography.

For some reason it's taken me ages to catch on to the potential for finding and sharing photos on the web. In the meantime, I've been making up for the lack of his illustration skills by begging, stealing (don't tell anyone) and borrowing photos from a host of online sites.
