I know of several huge companies – both in employees and in brand name – whose instructional designers are remote (many in other states). Even though WBT was out in full force by 2000, there were still plenty of vendors offering tools to build CBT. Heck, even in the mid 2000′s you could find folks.

Authoring Tool Market – What I am seeing

If you are an e-learning developer or instructional designer this has always been a favorite feature of authoring tools. Back in the early 2000′s I remember offering my end users avatars with our learning platform. I do believe that HTML5 output will continue to grow as an authoring tool feature.
