eLearning Brothers

Toward the end of that post is a quick mention and “how to” on Captivate’s text-to-speech functionality. So here’s a quick overview of Captivate 8’s text-to-speech features as well as some details on how to obtain the voices, install them, and a couple related options and further resource information. Once you click the Generate Audio button at the bottom, the narration will be created and added to the slide’s timeline.

Text To Speech Synthesizers

The eLearning Coach

This is how you start to think about voice characters after listening to them through text to speech synthesizers (TTS). When Adobe included a text to speech application in Captivate 4, I began to think that TTS might be a viable option in certain situations. For example, text to speech software is certainly a viable approach for providing accessibility to visually impaired persons.

Text-to-Speech Overview and NLP Quality

Tony Karrer

As you know, Text-to-Speech is something that's very interesting to me and Joel knows a lot about it as CEO of Tuval Software Industries maker of Speech-Over Professional. This software adds text-to-speech voice narration to PowerPoint presentations and is used for training and eLearning at major corporations. Joel was nice enough to jump in and share his knowledge of applying text-to-speech technology to eLearning.

Digital Signal Processor and Text-to-Speech

Tony Karrer

This is the second post in a series on Text-to-Speech for eLearning written by Dr. Joel Harband and edited by me (which turns out to be a great way to learn). The first post, Text-to-Speech Overview and NLP Quality , introduced the text to speech voice and discussed issues of quality related to its first component – the natural language processor (NLP). And don’t forget to factor in Text-to-Speech NLP Quality.

May 2010. Performance Learning Productivity , May 28, 2010 Instructional design is not only seen as a core competency for learning and development/training specialists, but it’s a huge industry, too. Most learning vendors tout their ‘expertise in instructional design’ as a key reason as to why we should engage them to produce learning content. I’ve re-worked the model to show: my domain is the workscape (the merger of work and learning, the learning ecosystem).

phone2learn is just too late

Clive on Learning

A recurring theme, at least for me, was on–demand learning, so I interested to come across this original offering from Trainer1. You’ve got a phone (any sort will do) and you know the number to call if you find yourself unable to remember what to do. You call up and, using voice recognition, you engage in a ‘learning conversation’ with either a recorded voice or a text-to-speech program.

Top 10 eLearning Predictions 2011 #LCBQ

We strongly believe the #LCBQ offers an opportunity to have something online that's like a sophisticated cocktail party. Situated learning (learning within context in a community of practice) grows thanks to augmented mobile reality. Virtual classrooms and smart-boards are used in a more student-centered way (not putting all the attention to one person up-front=bad). open up exciting opportunities for people to access relevant information where and when they require it.
