Adobe Flash is dying. Long ago Steve Jobs stopped the usage of Flash in Apple devices. But, as the users of Apple devices around the globe were comparatively low, this decision did not impact everyone. But, ever since Google announced that it would block flash in its browsers, the impact has been huge.

Google Docs – ever heard of em? Remember when only a few offered the PPT to Flash option in their tools? Mobile Learning. Let’s see – what is the fastest e-learning subset ever to garner audience interest for all solutions? They output only to HTML5. Microsoft Live – same thing.

But, the reason I constantly bash this into e-learning vendors heads is this just DON’T GET IT. HTML5 will be available on every one of those tablets, plus they will offer Flash (notable exception the iPad). Oh, yeah, social learning. LMS vendors who are moving into the Talent Management Space.

Samsung Galaxy S is expected to be the first real challenger to the iPad, it runs on Android OS, offers Flash 10.1 Again, the iPad runs with HTML5, not Flash nor Java. True, the other tablets and Samsung offer Flash 10.1 and Java, but they offer HTML5 too. Same issue occurred with Opera – used Flash and Java.

A couple of rapid content authoring tool vendors are incorporating HTML5 features in their tool, which can be used on tablets, and of course the iPad. The latest market share report is Apple 75%, Android 23%, 2% Other, early projections expect Apple to increase share once the iPad2 is launched. Why haven’t we seen.
